Small Animal Internal Medicine and Interventional Endoscopy Internship
Our year-long internship is an intensive training program for veterinarians who have completed a small animal rotating internship. The program is designed not only to prepare veterinarians for an internal medicine residency, but also to provide a distinctive interventional endoscopy and minimally invasive training experience.
Interns work alongside our board-certified internal medicine specialists on complex cases and gain hands-on exposure to procedures such as endoscopy, colonoscopy, bronchoscopy, rhinoscopy, and cystoscopy.
Applicants complete a rigorous application and interview process to match with prospective specialty hospitals. Our specialty intern is selected in part for existing strength in internal medicine and a desire to experience the forefront of minimally invasive medicine. Commitment to patient care and family communication is paramount, and our intern collaborates closely with our specialists to deliver peace of mind and the highest quality care.
Small Animal Internal Medicine and Interventional Endoscopy Residency
Our three-year residency allows veterinarians who have completed a small animal rotating internship to train with a team of ACVIM board-certified specialists. Residents are selected through a rigorous application and interview process, based in part on strength in internal medicine and a desire to train in minimally invasive medicine.
Throughout the program, residents work with board-certified specialists to diagnose and manage the full spectrum of internal medicine cases, including Valley Fever, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and endocrine disorders, while developing skills in interventional procedures such as laser lithotripsy, laser ectopic ureter correction, and tracheal and urinary stenting.
